PETALING JAYA: All it took was one viral Facebook post for Fiona’s (not her real name) life to turn upside down.

It started with a housemate complaining about Fiona – who is in her 20s – hoarding rubbish in her room.

The post, which revealed Fiona’s name and phone number, quickly went viral.

“I read all the comments on Facebook, forum, online news and even WhatsApp messages. Some even wrote that this would probably end with my suicide,” she said.

PUTRAJAYA: The Finance Ministry (MoF) has given special approval for the acquisition of the Dual Language Programme (DLP) textbooks through direct negotiations.

Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations chief executive officer Datuk Paul Selvaraj said : “It’s business there are no guarantees. A DEAL too good to be true is likely to be a scam. At least 30 people learnt this the hard way after placing deposits ranging between a few hundred ringgit and RM7,000 to book secondhand vehicles purportedly sold at half the market rate on an e-marketplace site.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP) sedang meneliti semula undang-undang sedia ada membabitkan hak pembeli yang ditipu menerusi transaksi dalam talian.

Menterinya, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, berkata kementerian mendapati wujudnya kesulitan daripada Tribunal Pengguna untuk mengambil tindakan kepada penjual yang menipu dalam talian.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kerajaan ingin membawa ‘game changer’ bukan sahaja kepada pembangunan infrastruktur luar bandar tetapi bagi menggalakkan Latihan dan Pendidikan Teknikal dan Vokasional (TVET).

Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi berkata, pihaknya bukan sahaja memfokuskan infrastruktur bekalan elektrik dan air tetapi mementingkan TVET untuk legasi baharu penduduk luar bandar.

“Ia akan dapat menyediakan peluang kedua kepada mereka untuk melanjutkan pengajian serta menceburi dalam bidang keusahawanan.

“Dari segi kebolehpasaran TVET, melalui Belanjawan kita peruntukkan untuk realisasikan TVET khusus untuk wanita yang dikenali sebagai Job Empowerment by Learning and Inclusive Technical Advancement (JELITA) serta akan melibatkan pelbagai kaum dan wilayah termasuk Sabah dan Sarawak.

“Kami juga akan memfokuskan untuk membangunkan masyarakat Orang Asli melalui Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA),” katanya.

Beliau yang juga Menteri Kemajuan Desa dan Wilayah berkata demikian semasa sidang akhbar selepas Walkabout Program Jualan Desa Madani di Busana Menara Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) di sini hari ini.
