Putrajaya: Kerajaan akan mengambil langkah termasuk meningkatkan pemeriksaan di tempat kerja, menyediakan lebih banyak sokongan kepada mangsa buruh paksa dan meningkatkan kesedaran tentang isu dalam kalangan majikan dan pekerja untuk memerangi buruh paksa.

Kementerian Sumber Manusia dalam satu kenyataan hari ini berkata, kerajaan sedang memulakan beberapa langkah utama seperti meratifikasi Protokol 2014 untuk Konvensyen Buruh Paksa dan menerima pakai Pelan Tindakan Nasional Berhubung Isu Buruh Paksa (2021-2025) berikutan buruh paksa adalah satu isu hak asasi manusia yang serius dalam hubungan pekerja.

"Malaysia akan terus bekerjasama rapat dengan Pertubuhan Buruh Antarabangsa (ILO) dan rakan-rakan kongsi lain untuk mengukuhkan lagi usaha kami memerangi buruh paksa di Malaysia.

"Kami yakin bahawa kami boleh mencapai kemajuan dalam isu ini dan kami komited untuk memastikan bahawa semua pekerja di Malaysia dihormati dan dilayan seadilnya," katanya.

KUALA LUMPUR - Tahap kesedaran rakyat Malaysia terhadap kepenggunaan dan hak sebagai pengguna terutama dalam membuat keputusan pembelian masih di tahap paling sederhana.

Timbalan Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup, Fuziah Salleh berkata, dapatan itu berdasarkan Kajian Pendayaupayaan Pengguna Malaysia Tahun 2019-2022 yang dilaksanakan kementeriannya.

Menurutnya, laporan hasil kajian tersebut mendapati Indeks Pendayaupayaan Pengguna Malaysia (CEI) berada di tahap sederhana dengan skor 63.1 peratus.

“Perincian lain adalah pertimbangan pembelian ialah 68.8 peratus, literati kewangan 62.5 peratus dan keupayaan untuk membuat aduan serta tuntutan tebus rugi pula adalah 56.1 peratus.

“Hasrat kita kini adalah mahukan 33 juta pengguna Malayiusa menjadi pengguna yang berdaya upaya iaitu pengguna yang bijak, tahu hak dan berani bertindak,” katanya di Dewan Rakyat di sini pada Rabu.

Beliau berkata demikian bagi menjawab pertanyaan Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS - Batang Sadong) meminta menyatakan sama ada kementeriannya akan menilai semula dasar-dasar kepenggunaan terutama Dasar Pengguna Negara memandangkan fokus Kementerian telah bertambah kepada isu kos sara hidup.

Mengulas lanjut, Fuziah berkata, kementeriannya juga sedang menambahbaik Dasar Pengguna Negara (DPN) 1.0 dan dijangka selesai dalam ini.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians are generally cautious of unknown calls and messages, but increased measures must be taken to prevent them from falling prey to scammers.The National Consumer Complaints Centre’s legal and policy division senior manager Shabana Naseer said concerted efforts were needed to eradicate the menace.“Government agencies, including police and the Malaysian Communications and the Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as well as telecommunication companies (telcos) should work closely in deterring scammers.“Apart from terminating phone numbers used for scamming by MCMC, other measures should be taken to deter them.“The authorities should have a list of those who had registered for phone numbers used for scams. The numbers can be obtained from the police as they are the ones who receive reports by victims.

“Consequently, it will be harder for scammers to register new numbers,” she said, adding that telcos could play a more active role in addressing the problem as part of their corporate social responsibility.She said the public could visit http://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule to check the list of online scammers.Shabana suggested a common complaint platform for the public to lodge reports and urged personal data protection to be strengthened through close cooperation among telcos.Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s head of Computer Security and Software Verification Lab, Professor Dr Zarina Shukur, said the government must take action to protect Malaysians from criminal activities.“The government via its ministries should play a part in taking action to combat scam calls and messages. One of the ways to do this is by informing the public about scam operations through religious activities, such as Friday sermons for Muslims.

This is made worse when it occurs at or near festive seasons, disrupting celebrations.Additionally, as families are unable to cook at home and seek to purchase food outside, often these shops are closed. There have even been reports that medical procedures were postponed or the patients were directed to go to another hospital because of the unavailability of water. People suffer when there are water cuts. People really suffer.Three days later, the problem has still not been resolved. It was reported that the chief minister informed on Sunday night that the water supply will resume at 11pm, but it proved to be untrue.

Another report said the chief minister informed that the Selangor government expects affected areas to recover by late Sunday night, but again not true.
Residents in some areas were informed that the water truck would arrive at their housing area on Sunday night. It never did. People had waited the whole night with pails outside their homes to collect water. The water truck never arrived; not only had they lost sleep, they never got the water that would have helped in a small way to overcome their suffering.As of this morning, the situation remains the same.

GUA MUSANG: Penduduk Orang Asli suku Batek di Kampung Kuala Koh di sini, memotong bekalan air tadahan bukit sejak seminggu lalu kerana mendakwa ia tidak selamat untuk digunakan.Mereka mendakwa bekalan air tadahan bukit disediakan Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (Jakoa) itu dipercayai menjadi punca serangan demam campak di kampung berkenaan sehingga menyebabkan 15 kematian, baru-baru ini.Penduduk, Mamat Ong, 30, berkata, penduduk memotong paip daripada tadahan air bukit itu kerana dikhuatiri tercemar dan bimbang serangan penyakit berkenaan berulang.

“Kami sanggup pergi ke anak sungai berhampiran kampung untuk membasuh pakaian dan mandi selepas air tadahan bukit dipotong.“Penduduk bimbang untuk guna air bukit bagi mengelak kejadian sama berulang,” katanya.Ani Ong, 35, berkata, dia bersama lima anaknya tidak dapat mandi dan membasuh pakaian sejak kelmarin berikutan air di dalam tangki simpanan sudah habis digunakan.“Kini, kami berdepan masalah bekalan air bersih selepas air tadahan bukit dipotong dan berharap pihak berkaitan turun padang untuk selesaikan masalah kami,” katanya
